Okay, so for those of you who don’t know, I’ve got a Palm Pre for Sprint as my cell phone, and while it is absolutely amazing in all aspects, there is, unfortunately, one very sad detail about the phone: it take 2 minutes to boot up, and I am not even exaggerating. It literally takes anywhere from 1:45-2 minutes to boot up.

So, this post is a list (7, and counting) of things I tend to do when my phone lags itself

1. Microwave Pizza Rolls

After school, I usually make myself some pizza rolls. I understand that the common serving size for these things is around 6. But, honestly, how can anyone stop at 6? I’ve found that I’m satisfied somewhere around the 15-17 mark. So on a daily basis, my after school-snack is almost 3 servings of pizza rolls. But 6 takes around 55 seconds, and even then there’s always that 1 in the center that’s still a little cold. So I usually put in my bundle of rolls in the microwave for about 1:35 or today I even tried 1:55. I love pizza rolls, they are delicious.

2. Awesome Meat Sandwich

Seeing as how I’m not the only child in my family, the pizza rolls tend to go by pretty quickly, especially after I hit them as hard as I do. So when the rolls are gone, I make myself a really awesome and really simple sandwich. All it is is bread (obviously), meat (some kind of brown turkey meat), some melted cheese (heated with the meat in the microwave), and a little bit of ketchup (because ketchup is cool like that). It’s delicious, truly delicious. And I can do it fairly quickly, since I’ve done it so many times.

3. Set Up My TV (while doing #1)

Now, making pizza rolls really isn’t complex. I put them in the microwave, set the time, and start it. So when I have another 1:30 or so to kill, I usually turn on the TV, open up the DVR, and turn on something like King of the Hill, King of Queens, Malcolm in the Middle, or (during the season) an episode of The Office I couldn’t catch the previous night. Right about here is when I realized how desperate I am to add some different material to this blog.

4. Speed-walk/Slow Jog a 1/4 Mile

A quarter-mile isn’t very far, and it isn’t hard at all to complete a quarter mile in under 2 minutes, unless you’re casually walking, then it’s pretty much impossible.

5. Listen to a Short Song

A lot of songs these days go way over 2 minutes, so this one might be a little hard. But obviously if I found a short song, I could listen to it while my phone reboots. The picture just happens to be Manchester Orchestra, a band my father and I heard on Alt Nation recently and have since been listening to almost non-stop.

6. Solve a Rubik’s Cube

I can solve a Rubik’s Cube pretty quickly, I think. My best time is about 40 seconds, but that was back when I took it seriously (Middle School). Nowadays I can solve one pretty easily in around a minute or so. So maybe if I had both of mine right next to each other, and I got lucky, I could even solve 2 in the time it takes to boot my phone. That would be truly embarrassing.

7. Complete a Bucky Balls Cube

Bucky Balls are probably the coolest magnets ever. They’re just tiny magnetic balls that stick together, and you can create all sorts of shapes and whatnot. Look them up, but it’s kinda hard to get them all organized in a perfect 6×6 cube, though I’ve been able to do it pretty quickly. But doing it in under 2 minutes is rare. So I couldn’t do this every time, only occasionally.

There you go, 7 things I can do while my phone reboots (not all at once, mind you). I’ve got screenshots and ideas to just make a bunch of app review posts next. Even if it is boring, I need new material. Nobody on this earth cares enough to read this just so they can learn about my life, if they do care, then they already know basically everything I’m going to say, haha.

Quick Like-Catchup:

Obama just gave a graduation speech at a school very nearby to us, I got pictures and video of him flying over by helicopter, and I think my dad caught Air Force One flying away from the airport.

My soccer team sucks. Our defense does, at least. Conditioning for the fall season starts a week from today, blegh.

Last week of school, but

Exams ):

I bought and beat Red Dead Redemption, so perhaps a game review for that can come around soon enough…

My sister graduated

Finally, I’d like to get a new theme for the site…what do you think?

Well I said I had a rant, so here it is…But it’s not really a rant, it’s more like a long story that made me angry.

So my sister sold her first car -a blue VW Beetle- because it was a stickshift, and she wasn’t a fan of the color. So my dad was looking on Craigslist for a green (yes, green) VW Beetle that was also an automatic. When you get that specific, searching gets pretty tough.

So my dad was looking for quite some time until he came across someone in Indianapolis with an automatic green Beetle for less than what we were looking for. So my dad calls him up and they arrange to make the deal. But Indianapolis is something like a 5 hour drive from our house. So my dad and my little sister went to my aunt’s house to stay the night after they made the trade. My mom had to drive my dad down about 2 hours away to my aunt’s house, then drive back. That way my dad would get the car and drive it back by himself. Things are looking great, so my older sister is obviously excited, because a green VW Beetle has been her dream car for…probably the last 5 years. This was a dream come true, for her.

My dad had to be really sure that the car was ours, because he had to do a lot of driving just to get it. My dad probably talked to the guy 5-6 times, to make sure things were going well. At one point the man actually told my dad, “Yeah you can come any time now, the car is yours.” He told him this probably a few minutes before my dad got to his house to make the trade.

So later that night, I go over to Lindsay’s house and we take pictures (did I forget to mention this all happens on the night of homecoming?) and I get a text from my sister. She told me to call her really quick, so I do. She tells me in an upset tone to give the phone to mom, because the guy with the car sold the car already…so I handed it to my mom and I can hear my sister crying to her and explaining how the guy intentionally sold the car before my dad got there.

I didn’t really believe it, so I called my dad and asked him if this was for real, and that this wasn’t some sort of cruel joke. He tells me that it was no joke, and he was 5 minutes from his house to go tell him off, along with my enraged aunt, who happened to be driving. After that phone call I go back to my house to take more pictures with Lindsay, my sister, and her date.

My sister gets a text from my dad saying that my aunt got pulled over for speeding, and on top of that, she was driving on an out-of-date licence plate. So she got a ticket that totaled somewhere around $150. Then when they got there, my aunt starts yelling, and ends up getting cussed out by the seller’s wife. My dad said the seller looked really upset and didn’t realize that it was them, and he said that he looked like he was almost going to cry. But the wife was screaming and yelling at them. So they had to leave with several hundred dollars wasted in fines, tolls, gas. As well as several hundred miles added onto their cars. All for nothing.

I don’t know what to say. The other day we lost 2-0 against one of the worst teams in the league, and we haven’t lost to them in years. I’m still pretty mad about it. Oh well, next time we play them we’ll be more prepared and our confidence won’t be so high. We should win.

I don’t really like one of my classes, Computer Applications: Word and Excel. It’s so easy and the teacher thinks we’re all morons when it comes to computers.

“Do you see that big “X” in the upper-right corner? What do you guys think it does?”

Then she tells us all of this stuff and makes us practice things that would, for me, only prove counter-productive if I were creating a Word document or something like that. For example: She won’t let us do ctrl+c and ctrl+v for copy and paste, we have to use the “Copy to Clipboard” button, then the paste button. If we do it with shortcuts, we get marked down for “doing it incorrectly”. Which doesn’t make sense, how can you do something wrong if you accomplish the same thing but several times faster? I want to test out of it, but I’m too late for that. I have to stick with it all trimester. Oh well, it’s an easy A, I suppose.
