Avatar: If you haven’t heard of it, your lack of any social interaction shocks me. This movie has been hyped for quite some time, while not being over-advertised like some movies these days are (cough..Transformers..cough).
The director (James Cameron) began creating the story and concept of the movie since he say one of the older Star Wars (back in the 80’s I believe) making this movie about 20-30 years in the making.
I’m sure you’ve all noticed local theaters (the good ones, at least) adapting to this new Digital 3D technology that seems to be popularizing with many animated movies, as well as a few non-animated ones. James Cameron is the man behind all of this. He’s been working on this movie for quite some time, and he wanted it to be seen the way he intended it to be: immersive and deep, drawing the audience in. So he helped create, then distribute the Digital 3D technology all around the world, all for this one movie.
Now, I’ve been hearing great things about this movie, and last weekend I finally got the opportunity to see it in 3D. I tried to go in with low expectations, to avoid possibly being disappointed when it wasn’t “the greatest movie of all time”.
In a nutshell: This movie is freaking brilliant. The effects look real 99% of the time, the story (a modern retelling of Pocahontas) was exceptional. I don’t think I could complain about this movie at all. I was so drawn into it by everything that I never found a reason to critique it.
Overall, I’d give it a 10/10. I definitely want to see it again, because I need to be sure if it’s worthy of my Top Ten movies..because right now, it sure seems like it.

I didn’t like it in 3D, everything seemed too dark…I had to take off the glasses a few times to let my eyes adjust.
